Vagaries of a vagabond

Give to me the life I love, Let the lave go by me, Give the jolly heaven above And the byway nigh me. Bed in the bush with stars to see, Bread I dip in the river - There's the life for a man like me, There's the life for ever... ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Happy Diwali!

Im back.. after a hiatus ..but hey, am still posting :)

Happy Diwali to all you folk out there.. To those who read my blog, and to those who dont too!

We went to see a fireworks display at the RSI. The sky was alit in hues of red, yellow, blue and green and gasps of wonder puncuated the roar as the night came alive with the spirit of Diwali. I love the sight of people in colorful ethnic clothes with sparkling 'phuljhadis' in their hands ( specially the ones which emit green light!) and the peals of laughter ringing all around. The enthusiasm is infectious! What a wonderful festival indeed!

The only one who seemed to think otherwise is my dear dog Casper! Every 'boom' of a cracker bursting saw him diving under the bed for cover! I guess he thinks the sky is falling on his head! Poor fellow..

Meanwhile, I'm off to eat some more sweets and revel in the celebrations :)

Fireflies

Here is a little poem i wrote quite a while back. Im still reminded of it each time I see flickers in the evening sky.

Fireflies

The sun sets on another evening
As violent streaks of violet, blue and pink
paint the 'master's' canvas

Tick-tock...tick-tock..
Hark! Who spilt ink all over?
And the world is shrouded in darkness.

Ah! blessed fireflies..valiant souls
Attempting to light up an ominous sky
A moments glory, an instants fame;

And then they lie scattered..
Forgotten heroes of an ungrateful land
The moment passes.

Moving..

We recently moved to a new place and it seems to be taking forever to settle down! I miss my old home. It was a lovely single bedroom apartment on the first floor of a building. The main door opened to the blue skies and many an evening i have enjoyed the cool rush of breeze against my face. Cradling a hot cup of coffee in my hands, with my legs tucked under my eskimo blanket, i have loved just sitting on the diwan and letting my thoughts swim around. If I had a magic jar like Dumbledore did, I would have lifted some wispy stray thoughts and put them into it.

I have always loved solitude but nowadays I find myself craving for companionship..warmth...love. Maybe that day isnt far away when I find what I seek. Until then I will enjoy being a vagabond..for tomorrow is another day and you never know what the tide will bring along :)

My foray into the spiders web

I have seen numerous blogs and wondered (and admired!) how anyone could have the patience to post so conscientiously and so religiously day after day. I was sure if I even attempted at blogging myself, Id probably disappear from the radar after just a couple of posts. Bah! Why waste time on something that spelt doom right from the word go!

Then a chance encounter with a friends blog a few days back lit a spark in me. Kaushik and Bidisha, Im not sure what makes your "space" so endearing, but i owe this to you two dewane!
